Application Traffic Management

The massive increased popularity of the World Wide Web and online commercial web sites has increased the need for more and more application servers to satisfy the demand. But simply adding more servers to a server farm does dot fully solve the problem on its own. The  increase in application traffic has to be managed, and this has led to the requirement for Load Balancing techniques to ensure that traffic is shared equally amongst the available servers.

Security Event Management

In a typical network, log files are generated by a variety of different devices. E.g. Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Routers, Servers, VPN Access. This generates a huge amount of data which needs to be analysed in case of a security event – a time consuming and costly process.  And with the advent of new compliance regulations, and the need to retain data for several years, it is essential that businesses now track, analyse, report and retain all security events.

The massive increased popularity of web sites has exposed the opportunity for both malicious hackers and accidental attacks from users. Companies want to provide their customers and partners with access to their websites for information, shopping, banking, and many other services. This effectively provides a portal to the company’s sensitive data (e.g. bank details, patient records) and it is paramount that the data is kept secure.
